Some more Inky Antics!

Heidi beat me to making a card with this image....but I was working on this fun little feller too!
I colored him with Prismacolor pencils and odorless mineral spirits. His tummy is white flocking and his glass and ice cube are coated in Diamond Glaze. I used the Cuttlebug Snowflake Embossing Folder on vellum for a frosty look. The designer paper is Cloud9 Design. The glitter dots are by Dress It Up! and are available in various colors at The Stamp Shoppe.

Hope you are keeping warm and had a happy weekend! ~michelle~

Have an 'Icy" Day!

Here's another "cool" stamp from Inky Antics. This penguin is so cute with the greetings from Wisconsin. The ovals were cut out with Nestabilities. The penguin was colored with...you guessed it! Copic Markers. The background was done with the bouncing brayer technique. It gives an icy water look which is perfect for this card. Check out our classes in January! There are some great ones coming up and you can make this card in the brayer techniques class. Stay warm and Have a GREAT Holiday Season!

Wisdom From A Snowman

Who can't use a little advice from a snowman this year?! This fun stamp is by Inky Antics and is colored with Copic Markers and Copic's At You Spica Glitter Pens. The designer paper is by Heidi Grace Designs. The only other embellishment on this is a tiny button sewed on the card with embroidery floss. Just a little tip.....no naked buttons on cards....finish them off with some ribbon or coordinating floss to make them pop! Stay Warm! ~michelle~

It Bee Snowing & Blowing

A few post ago, you saw this stamp as one. I decided to add a twist and separate the componants of the stamp. I used the one bee and cut the hap-bee holidays sentiment off. The blowing swirls were part of the snowflake rub-ons we have at the Stamp Shoppe. They give the real feeling of cold. I used the rub-ons on the new Fancy Pants snow paper and used the snow background from cuttlebug. Adding a little glitter and small gemstones from Hero Arts complete the sparkling chill of snow. Even though it's cold outside, hopefully this card can warm your heart!!

It Was A Cloud9 Birthday!

We're enduring grey skies and snowbanks here....but this card is just SO cheery, I love it!
I used white for the card base. Designer paper is by Cloud9 Design. The stamps are by WhipperSnapper and are colored with Copic markers, highlighted with white gel pen and Prismacolor pencils. The lucious ribbon is by May Arts. The flower sequins are by Hero Arts.

Let It Snow!

...someplace else!! It's been SO cold and snowy, I'm not sure why this card popped out....but this little feller was just begging to be colored with Copics. His tummy has been fun flocked and his candy cane has been coated with Diamond Glaze for added shine. The silver cardstock looks very cold and icy embossed. ~michelle~

A Gift For You!

This card features Cuttlebug's Allegro Embossing Folder that has been lightly sanded on the designer paper. Faux stitching attaches the panel to the cardstock that has been embossed with Cuttlebug's Swiss Dot Embossing Folder. Nestabilities make it easy to frame this little beauty. Stamp is by Whipper Snapper and is colored with Copic Markers and highlighted with a Inkssentials Opaque White Pen. The Glittery Flowers are by Heidi Grace and come with the little brads. Check out these fun products in our store! ~michelle~

Hap-bee Holidays!

These little bees are shivering in these Wisconsin temperatures.....but they're all decked out with flocked hats, and glittery wings. Copic At You Spica Glitter pens are used to glitz up the sentiment, their noses and antennae. Base Cardstock is Bazzill, designer paper is by Fancy Pants. Glitter dots are by Dress It Up! Art Institute's Pearlescent gliter has been added to the snowflake and *mountains* along the bottom of the card. The cut snowflakes are from another sheet of Fancy Pants designer paper. Faux stitching finishes off this untraditional holiday card.

Thanks so Much!

One of the hardest cards to make are for men. Northwoods Rubber stamps have a great selection of masculine stamps. The moose was colored with Copic Markers. The papers in the background are some scraps from my scrap bin again. The multi-colored fibers add a different touch than your regular ribbon...less girlish. I used the Nestabilities to cut out the sentiment. The sentiment is from Hero Arts. Because of the blank space in the circle, I added some gems that are also from Hero Arts. Hope this gets you inspired to make a card for the men in your life. Happy Stamping!

The Weather Outside is Frightful!

It sure is cold today. With temperatures below zero, it is the perfect day to stay in and stamp...right? My son is thrilled with the freezing temps, because that means ice, which means he can play hockey after school. This snow set is from Cat's Pajamas. Because the cats and dogs are basically black, there is very little coloring that needs to be done and you have a very cute card. Using a few of my Bo Bunny scraps from my scrap drawer and I have an easy, fun background! Keep warm!!

High Hopes Birthday!

Check out this cute little fellow from High Hopes! Colored with Copic Markers he's a real cutie!

Fun Flocked Cards!

Here is another sample with the flocked cards! For this card the frame is made with Nestabilities and faux stitched to add depth and interest. The chicken image is by WhipperSnapper and is actually stamped on the inside card panel, so when you open the card you see the entire image of the chicken sitting on the swing! The flowers are by Heidi Grace and have a sprinkling of glitter for fun and come with the minibrads! ~michelle~

It's your birthday...

We have some new, FUN stuff at the store!! The flocked window cards from Heidi Grace is something new. I cut off the back of the card to use on the front of this card. The Alphabet punchouts are also from Heidi Grace. I used the scallop edge of the large alphabet to accent the edge of the card. Then I used the square that I punched out the "b"from as a background for my stamped image. The birthday penguin and the sentiment are from The Cat's Pajamas clear birthday set. These are fun stamps that don't require a lot of coloring. The sets have images that coordinate with each other. The possibilities are endless!! We will be show casing some of the new stuff this week here on the blog. Check it out and come in to see the full selection.

Here is another High Hopes image....colored with Copics and highlighted with the white Inkssentials opaque white pen. Designer paper and glitter rubons by Cloud9, Prima flowers and little gems complete this card. Final touches of sponging and faux stitching and pop dots add some depth to the layout!

Tile card

Using your Scor-Pal, you can make a diamond background. When you stamp on the "debosses" side with a solid stamp, the image appears as tiles. Be sure that you don't press too hard on the stamp or the image will get in the cracks. The cuttlebug background was done after the dark green strip of paper was glued to the light green piece. You'll have to give it a try!!

Sympathy

Making sympathy cards can be hard. You want it to express sympathy without it being too much. Sympathy cards are more on the simple side. Using strips of decorator paper and some gemstones add just a little extra. These flower stamps from Penny Black are perfect for keeping the cards simple. Add a sentiment and you have the perfect card!!

Faux Watercoloring

This is a new technique from Impression Obsession called Faux Watercolor. I wish you could see the detail better in this picture. You make your own ink pads, using Ranger's felt pads and Adirondack reinkers. Using two or three reinker colors you create your own ink pad. Then you stamp into two toned ink pad with the Impression Obsession clear flower pieces stamps. When you stamp your flowers and folliage you have a watercolor effect. I used the Stamp It! block stamp to get the windows and masked with 1/8" removable masking tape before I started stamping. Just add a sentiment and a little "bling" and you have a fun card!! We have color instruction booklets in the store for only$2.50 or you can take a class on this technique and receive the book in the class. During the class, you will also make 3 ink pads for you to take home and three sample cards. Check out our October calendar for the dates on the class!

More paper fun!

WoW! Can you believe it? I'm posting 2 days in a row!!! Well as I said yesterday, I have been playing with old, but fun paper. I discovered that the flower background paper matches the turtle's flowered shell. How neat is that?! I used the sentiment from a Lizzie Anne set about flowers and mini Prima flowers as acents creating a theme around the paper. I love the long, large rectangle nestabilities. I use the long side to create a dainty scallop border. Here is a variation of the card using the black flowered paper.
This paper also comes in yellow. We have a few 8 1/2 x 11 sheets left. Come in a check out our large stock of fun paper. They can add inspiration to your card making!!

I like you better than flies!!

I have been going through old decorator paper that I have laying around and wanting to put it to use. Sorry this little frog is popping up again, but he is perfect for this buggy paper. The saying is from a Lizzie Anne stamp set. Don't you just love these Nestabilities. I sure don't know how we got along without them. If you haven't tried them, we will be happy to give you a demo on how they work!!

"Hoppy" Day

Hoping your day is just "hoppy"! I didn't have a stamp that said Hoppy Birthday, so I used my labeler to say what I wanted. I used the new Branches cuttlebug on the background after I stamped the dragonflies. The branches looked a little like water ripples on this card. The clouds were made by sponging a light blue on the cloud template. The coloring was done with Copic markers. I love using the blending technique with the frog to give it a more natural yellow/green color. If you are interested in learning more how to use Copic markers, we are having Kathy from Whippersnapper Designs coming on Saturday, Oct. 4th to teach a class with the Copic markers. Email us if you want more details, space is filling fast!! Have a "hoppy" day!

Masculine Deer Card

Why is it that masculine cards are so hard to do? I think it is because we have to be so careful not to make it girly. The ribbons, buttons, lace punches, glitters and flowers are the fun accessories to use...but they don't always work for a man's card. I came up with a new accent by accident. I used bronze brads on my card and then decided to cut out my word window with the nestibilities label. As I rolled my card front through the cuttlebug, my eyelets flattened out making the heads look like nailheads. Cool!! Now I created a different look with my brads, but the card shouldn't have any problem going through the mail either! Hope this gives you a new thing to try! Happy stamping!!

Birthday Wishes

I am having fun with the new cuttlebug folders. This is one of the card combo dies. It is neat to use only part of the embossing for an accent instead of a whole background. The Great Impressions mouse with dandelion goes with it so well. I used a "birthday wishes" greeting, but it would work for a "Wish you well" or "wishing you a special day". The Chartreuse and watermelon colors give the card a sunny and fun feel. More Cuttlebug folders are coming soon!!

Cuttlebug borders!!

Some of the new Cuttlebug folders are here!! These new borders are very fun to use. I used the border on the edge of my DoubleMates cardstock. Then I sanded the embossed image to see the lighter purple color to the front. I colored the flower with Copic markers, using the feathering technique. So Simple!!

Here is one of the cards we will do in the class.

Girl's best friend

Here's a fun card using the Stamping Bellas on the Amuse square cards. I love these cards. They are sooo cute and work well with smaller images. This funky paper is from Creative Imaginations and works great with the fun look I wanted to create. Of course the Prima flowers and gem stone stickers always add the perfect touch!!!
